Hello and
Welcome
My name is Ms.
Dogbey, and I will be your child’s teacher this school year. Please feel
assured that my classroom has a very warm and nurturing environment where your
child will feel a sense of belonging and learn to become responsible and
independent as they face new challenges.
First, I would like to tell you more about myself. I graduated from the
Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, majoring in History. I am a mother of
three lovely children, two sons and a daughter. I taught in the junior level in
my country for five years before migrating to Canada. I love travelling to new
places, and learning about different people and their cultures that is why our
class is going to be adventurous and a fun experience. My favorite sport is
Tennis, so I will be spending most of my summer holidays in tennis courts.
The junior grade is a
very important milestone in your child’s life, and I am both excited and
honored to be part of this experience. In order to best serve your child, any information to help guide me would
be great! I plan to work closely with you so that together we can make it
as special and rewarding a year as possible.
Throughout the year, your child will be working on many activities that
will help him or her learn new concepts and skills. Please take the time to
review some of these activities with your child. Also, please review and sign
your child’s agenda daily, as it will contain your child’s homework and notes
from me when required.
My philosophy is
to create a classroom where everyone is welcome, treated with respect, equally
and where inclusion is fostered. Therefore the learning experience and welfare
of your child is my primary focus. Teaching is the art of shaping and molding
students to become lifelong learners and I recognize that students have
different abilities, in that respect, I offer choice and options to my
students, vary my teaching strategies and value differences to allow for equal
participation.
Our classroom
has been developed into a 21st century learning environment, so we
will be incorporating the use of Information and Communications Technology
(ICT) in our learning strategies. This will give us access to more resources and
explore variety of tools that will enhance the learning structure to meet the
needs of every student.
You are welcome to explore the classroom website at peacemma.blogspot.ca
where you will find all our class activities, pictures and videos that will
keep you connected with your child’s academic experience and adventures.
I am looking forward to working with you and getting to know your child
and helping him or her succeed in their education and participation during this
school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email
me at peacemma30@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Ms. Dogbey
